YA Department Super Special #1: The Mortal Instruments and Demon’s Lexicon

Superman versus Batman; The Justice League; X-Men versus Avengers. Comics do team-ups and crossover specials all the time, so why not YA? In the grand tradition of the Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys Super Mysteries, I give you the YA Department Super Special #1: Angel Blood, Demon Blood, in which Jace from the Mortal Instruments series teams up with Nick from the Demon’s Lexicon trilogy. Check out the synopsis below.

But first, just to be clear, this is a completely imaginary book that I made up. It has not been written, it probably will not be written, and the fabulous Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan have no idea who I am or why I am taking their beloved characters and forcing them to interact. But ladies, consider the crossover; it could be awesome! And, judging by your shared agent, symbiotic cover blurb relationship, and communiqués on twitter, you are actually friends in real life and could totally get this book written!

All right, without further ado, here is the synopsis for this made up crossover event:

When the doorbell rings late one night at Shadowhunter Institute in Manhattan, the last thing Jace expects to find is a baby in a basinet on the doorstep. When the infant demonstrates unnaturally precocious fighting abilities, spin kicking and flying through the air despite being barely three months old, the Shadowhunters know they must discover his origins.

Meanwhile, Nick receives a terrified message from an old demon pal; someone is capturing demons and draining their blood. When Nick promises to find out who is responsible, his investigations lead him all the way to the Institute in New York City, where he and Jace will discover a secret about the mysterious baby that could shatter both demons and angels alike.

One is a human with the blood of an angel, the other is a demon living in a human body. Together, they must save the world.

Holy crap. Did I just write fan fiction? Does it count as fan fiction if it is only a synopsis? I am scared! But it was so fun!
